The Places camo is based on military past of Kerry GAA players in hurling and football. Particularly the gesture by Joe Barrett in 1931 when he passed team captaincy to Con Brosnan for the 1932 season as a symbol of team unity & team spirit. Brosnan was a Free State Officer who had guaranteed the safe passage to and from Kerry games for his Republican team mates John Joe Sheehy and Barrett himself, who were political & military opponents of Brosnan during the Civil War of the 1920s.
